I will publish my research outcomes here during the fall. After I have gather all the material I got during the project, I start analyzing it. Hopefully I will come up with some interesting results and new development ideas, how to make the project even more effective.

I also wanted to write and tell that I opened my phone number yesterday and I got a new phone call at midnight and a text message saying “Can we talk”. I took the sim card out since the job hunting is officially over and the phone number is not valid anymore. I am assuming the caller was somebody, who I don’t have to answer, especially since he/she contacted me during the night.

Situations Wanted – jobseeking office has left from Donegall Street but it is not the end. Hopefully the office will be relocated somewhere else someday soon. Belfast was a great place looking for a job in the black market. I got non stop job offers and people contacted me for different reasons. I have received 90 text messages from 19 different people. I also have got almost everyday phone calls and all this add ups for 22 job offers during 15 days of job hunting. I would consider that 5 of these jobs was really honest and if the situations would have been different, I would have taken one of those jobs. I believe the callers offering me a B&B cleaning, a hostel cleaning, 2 aupairs and graphic designer one were for real. Other 18 jobs sounded too sexist or dodgy.

I met during the project so many nice and interesting people. I heard many stories about black market employment and also about the struggle to find a job these days. I appreciate all of these people who shared their stories with me and made my days so interesting. In the office there was about 110 visiters during the 3 weeks and around 80 in the office party. Many people also stopped and took a look at the window, where I had displayed my job vacancies. Most of them were amused about the jobs I had to offer but there was few people who weren’t impressed at all. Overall the project was succesfull. Putting an ad into the situations wanted section of the news paper is a valid method of looking for a job but if you do that you have to be ready to meet the black market. Unfortunately people will take an advantage of those who are just looking for a job especially if you are a young girl. Luckily I knew this would happen since I have experienced it before. Although I felt really disgusted after few callers. Because of these people exist, who want to take an advantage of young girls, the black market employment is really big and easily to access. Black market recruitment company would actually be needed in the city, since few people, mainly guys came into the office saying they want to be escorts, and they were asking would I have something for them. One guy said that I should have an ad also for a guy who is looking for a job so I would have offers for males. I have to think about this, it would be interested to see what would happen. Of course I still don’t recommend to work in the black market since it is highly risky and mostly illegal.

I attached all the offers and text messages for people to read in here. Hopefully I am able to continue my project in different location and I’ll be back writing new stuff then. In the end I want to thank everybody, who helped me with this project and were interested about it. See you soon!

I still have got lot’s of text messages and phone calls from people. I think I have even got a stalker. Somebody send me a message saying: Were 2, then the next day: Were u lkn me there lv, my answer bottons broke. And then again the next day: R u stil in bed lv, can i join ya, havent seen ya in a while, wat ya up2. He might also be someone who has accidentally send me the messages, since they make no sense what so ever. I never answered him back, since I didn’t feel the need to. I also got someone else texting me. He first send me: Hi there i am looking or a housekeeper for 1 day a week. Let me know if ur interrestit? I didn’t answer him back right away and he send me another one: I hope i am not 2 forward mayby u might like 2 come out for dinner with me? I am sure u will like a social night out in belfast. I didn’t answer him anything after this message eater. After these I still got one message involving something else than finding a job. Hi ya babes u want date x.

So many messages about dating and stuff. I think the ad has been too long in the paper since I start getting lots of people contacting me for all kinds of things.

I also got few phone calls that sounded really honest ones. Since the project is ending I had to say to them that I already got a job. I didn’t want to waste their time by interviewing me. I have to say thought that the calls have sounded really genuine offers. One woman call me about working in a hostel as a cleaner. I think it might have been the best offer I have receive and which I would have even take from all of these housekeeping jobs that I have been offered to do.

Last 3 days in the office

The project is coming to its end. Only 3 days left for finding a job in the underground economy. I have received over 20 offers around Northern-Ireland. Most of them have been really dodgy but luckily I have got also potential job offers too. I have all of those jobs on the board in the office to people to come and take a look at them. I had one visitor this morning who was interested of the sexual service provider job. He said he thought there was maybe some lonely woman, who needed to be served. Unfortunately I had to say that it is for girls. I also asked him that is he sure he would want to do that kind of job? He answered that job is a job.

I got in to the Irish news today. It’s great! I was scared that being in the newspaper would minor my job offer calls but I still have got lots of offers. Yesterday I got a phone call from one guy who wanted me to live with him and do the housework. It sounded like being someone’s housewife but get paid for doing it.

Today I got messages from housecleaning. First one send me already at 9am text messages saying he is looking a cleaner. He just started the messages so weirdly asking am I in facebook, do I have a partner, and then when I said yes I have boyfriend, he asked would he be able to drive me to his place for a chat. It sounded odd but maybe he was honest person anyway. Well I stopped texting him back anyways, since he sounded little bit strange. I also got today a call from a man who was looking for a cleaner but started asking right away questions of my appearance. I told him that I am quite short and blond. Well he was interested of the fact that I am blond. Then he asked do I have big boobs. I said I am not answering to that question and said I don’t want the job eater.

I got also a call from some shop in the centre but he sounded really rude and asked to come there immediately, he didn’t even say what the shop is called just an address. I didn’t go.

I wrote before about this 19 year old boy who was looking for a cleaner. He text me again am I interested and asked again could I please text him back. He was offering me now 10£/h for 25 h/week. I didn’t answer him at all. He is way too young.

I got an awful phone call

Sadly when I just had said on my last post that I got an honest phone call I received a really bad one. Someone called me using a private number. I answered and his first words were “do u wanna suck…” I said no, he said he will pay good money, I said I am not interested at all. I said goodbye and he hang up. He sounded really creepy and awful. I think he send me after it a message saying he saw my ad on Belfast Telegraph and asked do I want to hook up and meet. I didn’t answer. These people are so weird when they think they can just say whatever and assume they would get lucky.

Finally some honest people have contacted me!

I got yesterday some phone calls and voice mails. They rang me up again today saying what they are looking for. I was so happy to hear that they actually wanted me to have a job and they say their full name for me too. First caller was a female. Actually the first female caller ever! She was looking for a cleaner into her B&B in the country side. She sounded really lovely person and really honest. Only bad thing about the job was that it was so far away.

The second caller was a man but sounded also really honest person. He had a 4 year old daughter and he was looking for an Aupair. He said also his full name and sounded really nice. They live in the countryside too near the sea. It sounded lovely but I am not looking for a babysitter job so I had to say no to him too.

However I was happy to see that all the people aren’t bad and there is people that honestly want to help. When I looked my board where I have put all the good jobs I realized that all of them have came from the country side not in Belfast city.

Office party was so much fun! Thanks to everybody who came!

We had a party yesterday in the office. I was so delighted that so many people came and celebrated with us. I just want to thank you once again and hopefully everybody had a pleasant evening.

I got a phone call last night at 5am from someone. I was too sleepy to answer and it came from private number.

Today I haven’t got any phone calls but Belfast Telegraph came to interview me. The article will be in the paper at 24th of July. Looking forward to reading it and seeing what would be the response from the readers. I have had lots of visitors in the office today which has been nice. Everyone has been excited to know about my project and how it has come together.
